Handmade stamps for those who craft from the heart
Making things runs in the family...
My parents founded Clothkits in the 1970s — the iconic British craft brand that sent sewing kits through the post to thousands of families across the country. I grew up in the village of Firle in East Sussex, surrounded by fabric, pattern, and the particular satisfaction of creating something with your hands.
After studying textiles at Winchester School of Art, I moved to London and spent years designing fashion prints for international markets, then worked as an in-house designer at Jane Churchill creating wallpapers and fabrics. I loved that work. But somewhere along the way, I found myself wanting to make things myself — not designing for someone else's production line, but putting my own hands on the thing from start to finish. That's where Noolibird began.
There's a sprinkling of magic in every stamp...
Every Noolibird stamp starts out as a linocut, a painting or a drawing.
I work from nature — the hares and foxes and owls I see on walks along the South Downs, the botanicals in the forests and meadows, the folk patterns I've been collecting for years.
There's something I still find quietly marvellous about the moment ink meets paper. The impression appears. A piece of your imagination becomes something real and repeatable. You can use one stamp a hundred different ways — with different inks, on different papers, layered with others — and it never gets old.
Noolibird has been making stamps in Brighton for over a decade now. The designs change with the seasons and with whatever is catching my eye, but the process is always the same: designed by hand, made with care, sent out to people who love to make things.
The materials matter...
Noolibird stamps aren't made from natural rubber — they're made from photopolymer, a material that uses approximately 95% less electricity to produce, with no noxious fumes at any stage. The impression is clean and precise, and the stamp lasts for years of regular use.
The wooden handles are made especially for Noolibird in the UK, from beech grown in sustainably managed European forests. Every order leaves here in completely plastic-free packaging: recycled card, recycled paper, recyclable tape. These aren't afterthoughts. They're how we've always done it.
Handmade with love...
I'm the designer, the maker (with help from lovely Pam!) the packer and the person who replies to your messages. When you order from Noolibird, your stamps are made and packed by the same hands that designed them.
I live near the sea just outside Brighton with my husband Daniel, an architectural photographer (who also helps with the photography and website) our three lovely sons and our dear old labrador Toki.
